Sustainable Development Goals

SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), were agreed on by all United Nations (UN) member nations in 2015 as "a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for people and the world by 2030". The 17 goals that comprise the SDGs are ambitious and intend to address challenges both locally and globally, including poverty, inequality, sustainability, and justice.

In 2018, Community Foundations of Canada (CFC) began aligning Vital Signs data with the SDGs through the national data sets and supporting community foundations in their local alignment.

In 2019, CFC shifted the Vital Signs theme descriptions to better reflect the alignment of Vital Signs data with the SDGs. Aligning Vital Signs programming and communication to the SDGs presents an opportunity to measure local progress on Canada’s pursuit of the 2030 Agenda and to link local-level work to a broader global movement and purpose.

The Community Foundation of Campbellford/Seymour and Northumberland is committed to the United Nations SDGs and is advancing the SDGs by aligning our first Vital Signs Report for Northumberland County with the goals.
