Winnie the Pooh Literacy Events

We have a new community member in Northumberland County! Bringing a love of literacy everywhere he goes, our furriest member, Winnie-the-Pooh, is a bear with an incredible past, rich with words. Winnie’s first appearance was at YMCA Healthy Kids day on April 30th at the Cobourg YMCA.

Look for Winnie across the County participating and entertaining at many Ontario Early Years Centres and YMCA events. Winnie will make appearance at the Teddy Bear Picnic at Old Mill Park, Campbelllford in July and at Winnie-the-Pooh Literacy Events at the Early Years Centre in Hastings on July 12th and August 9th. He also visited Trenton and Cobourg, and has many more communities on his list to share his thoughtful words of wisdom with!

A display board with literacy handouts and a bin of themed craft supplies and Winnie-the-Pooh and Canadian author childrens books travel with Winnie to these events. Graham crackers for snacking, honeycomb cereal to string necklaces and make honeycomb pictures, and a counting jar with honeycomb cereal, a canada puzzle and lots and lots of books make this a great resource for early learning.

It is a fun project, which will have great affects.
